Understand This First: Your Personal Brand is Not Your Instagram Account
Your personal brand is not just the number of followers you have. It’s about who you are in the market and the results you deliver for others. It’s the journey you take your audience on from point A to point B.
There are two types of people who post content on social media, and you should aim to be the second type. The first type are influencers who focus solely on gaining as much attention as possible to get paid by brands for collaborations. The second type are those who prioritize making money by understanding that social media is a means to build a profitable business.
Key Principles for Success:
High Demand: Your personal brand should address a problem that many people face, such as wanting to learn a new language or improve their financial situation.
Unique Expertise: Be one of the few who can solve this problem. For example, a rare disease specialist is highly valuable due to the scarcity of experts.
Expanding Field: Choose a niche that is growing, like social media, rather than one in decline, like traditional television.
By combining these principles—addressing a high-demand problem, possessing unique expertise, and being in an expanding field—you can create a highly profitable personal brand.
What Should You Talk About?
What you want to talk about in your personal brand doesn’t matter. The key is to focus on what your audience wants to hear. If your content is based on what you want to share, it won’t make money. Many people with lots of followers on topics like motivation or entrepreneurship don’t earn anything because their content doesn’t address their audience’s needs.
I receive messages daily from people with many followers who talk about motivation or habits but don’t make money. Their mistake is not solving a specific problem or fulfilling a desire for their audience.
To make money, your personal brand needs to provide concrete solutions or meet desires effectively. In short, people pay to solve problems or fulfill desires, not for abstract concepts or general advice.
Solving Problems with Your Personal Brand
To make money with your personal brand, you need to address high-demand problems that few people can solve, and that are in expanding niches. Combine these elements, and you will be on your way to success.
There are two ways to make money on social media: the hard way, which requires a huge audience and a lot of creativity, and the easy way, which takes less time and effort.
1.Influencer Approach: Focuses on abstract concepts like motivation or habits, gaining lots of views but struggles to monetize as it lacks concrete solutions to problems.
2. Entrepreneurial Approach: Uses social media as a tool to build a business by solving specific, high-demand problems with unique solutions.
An account with 3,000 followers generating $28,600 in 20 days by addressing specific needs versus an influencer with 256,000 followers struggling to make $3,000 a month.
Key Principles for Success:
.High Demand: Solve problems many people face.
.Unique Expertise: Be one of the few who can solve this problem.
.Expanding Field: Choose a growing niche.
By focusing on high-value, concrete solutions and leveraging the perceived value principle, you can earn more with fewer followers.
The Principle of Congruence
Your personal brand must be congruent with your actions and appearance. If you’re selling fitness programs, you need to look the part. If you’re teaching public speaking, you must be a confident speaker. First impressions matter.
Would you buy a weight loss program from someone who is overweight? Or a public speaking course from someone who can’t speak confidently? No, because their image doesn’t align with what they’re selling.

Become an Irrefutable Authority
To be remembered and trusted in your field, you must be the best. This means achieving results not just for yourself but for others. Share your success stories and results consistently.
If you’re a fitness trainer, showcase results from various clients—young, old, male, female. Your credibility increases when people see diverse, real-world results.
Earning Money with Your Personal Brand
Large Following:
Whether you have a large following or a small one, the strategy differs:
- Medium Ticket Products: More substantial offerings like weekend workshops or courses.
- Low Ticket Products: Affordable items that serve as an entry point for your audience.
- High Ticket Products: Premium services like one-on-one coaching or business consulting.
Think of a baker who sells cakes (low ticket), offers weekend baking classes (medium ticket), and provides consulting to other bakers on how to run a successful bakery (high ticket).
Small Following:
- Focus on high-ticket products. With fewer followers, you need to maximize each transaction’s value. Sell premium solutions that have a high perceived value.
With just 1,000 followers, selling a $1k high-ticket product to even a small percentage of your audience can generate significant income.
The Concept of Perceived Value
The price you can charge for a product depends on how specific and unique it is. The more tailored your solution to a particular problem, and the fewer people offering it, the higher you can charge.
Example: A weight loss program for new mothers over 40 is more valuable than a generic diet plan because it’s tailored to a specific, high-demand audience.
Levels of Awareness for Creating Viral Content
To create viral content, you must understand your audience’s level of awareness. There are five levels:
- Unaware: They don’t know they have a problem.
- Problem-Aware: They know they have a problem.
- Solution-Aware: They know they have a problem and how to solve it.
- Product-Aware: They know they have a problem, how to solve it, and who provides the solution.
- Most Aware: They know they have a problem, how to solve it, who provides the solution, and with which product.
Always aim to engage your audience at lower levels of awareness to create more impact and engagement.
Having a Winning Idea
A great video starts with a winning idea. Quality matters, but without a captivating idea, your content won’t engage. Draw inspiration from viral videos and adapt them to your concept. Be original; don’t just copy.
Capturing Attention
You must hook your audience within the first few seconds. Offer something compelling that makes them stay. Here are the 30 most viral hooks on social media:
- Start with a shocking fact.
- Ask a provocative question.
- Begin with a powerful quote.
- Share an unexpected result.
